United Way of Topeka Warming Center Volunteers Needed

In partnership with the City of Topeka and Topeka Rescue Mission, United Way of Greater Topeka is looking for individuals willing to potentially respond to the need for volunteers.

This opportunity will be in direct response to the Severe Winter Storm that will be impacting most of Kansas with snow, wind, and extreme cold temperatures.

Volunteers who are interested in this opportunity will receive more direct communication on locations, and other volunteer needs through email. Currently, the warming center will be open starting at 9 pm Wednesday evening, and the date of closure will be assessed ongoing basis. Your ability to communicate through email will be important for this opportunity, as needs may change due to the weather.

These volunteers will have the support of both social service organizations, as well as Topeka Police and Fire and City Personnel, and will help greet and serve individuals that are in need of shelter from the extreme cold weather.

These volunteers will be helping and interacting with all members of our community; many of whom are in the midst of significant physical, mental and emotional struggles.

These volunteers will be present to compassionately address immediate needs and provide a warm drink and snack.
